    GC-MS Determination of 3 Flame Retardants in Polyurethane Foams

    • A method of GC-MS for the determination of 3 flame retardants,i.e. tris(1,3-dichloro-2-propyl) phosphate,tris(2-chloroethyl) phosphate and tris (1-chloro-2-propyl) phosphate in polyurethane foams was proposed. The sample of polyurethane foams was extracted by Soxhlet method with acetone. The HP-5MS capillary column was used for GC separation and the selected ion monitoring mode was adopted in MS determination. Linear relationships between values of peak area and mass concentration of the 3 flame retardants were kept in definite ranges,with detection limits (3S/N)in the range of 0.4-1.5 mg·kg-1 and lower limits of determination (10S/N) in the range of 1.3-5.0 mg·kg-1. On the base of blank sample,test for recovery was made by standard addition method; values of recovery found were in the range of 84.2%-93.6%,with RSD′s (n=6) in the range of 0.62%-3.3%.
